Technical Surveillance Authority (TJA)

 

TJA issues safety certificates to railway companies, engine driver licenses, construction- and usage permits and written permits for railway facilities. They also enter railways and rolling stock into national railway traffic register and performs supervision over railway traffic, infrastructure and maintenance of rolling stock and building of new railway facilities. They also monitor and control the transport of hazardous cargo.

Tasks of TJA are allocating the capacity of railway infrastructure and assigning its usage fee and collecting information about railway accidents and creating statistics.  If necessary they also participate in the investigations of accident investigation committees.

TJA also fulfills different implementation tasks related to projects supported by different financial means, including development projects financed by different European Union support funds.
