Introduction

On the Eesti Raudtee website https://www.evr.ee/ we strive to follow the accessibility requirements established by standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1. We have mapped the currently existing shortcomings and are working to resolve them. Below we provide an overview of which functions are currently available and which limitations currently exist.

In addition, it is possible to improve the accessibility of the website by adjusting your computer's browser and operating system settings.

Keyboard Navigation

On the website it is possible to move forward using the Tab key and backward using the Shift+Tab key combination. To activate or open a link, press the Enter key.

The main functions such as the menu, content page links and external links are operable with a keyboard. The calculator on the "Business Client" page is also operable with a keyboard.

The following limitations currently exist:

  • Most elements lack a visible focus indicator, which means it is not always possible to visually track which element is currently active.
  • Focus does not always move in a logical order.
  • The page lacks a skip navigation link that would allow users to bypass navigation and move directly to the main content.

We are working to resolve these issues.

Zoom and Text Resizing

To enlarge content, we recommend using the functionality built into the web browser.

In all popular web browsers it is possible to zoom in and out by holding down the Ctrl key (on macOS the Cmd key) and pressing the + or – key. To return to the default size, press Ctrl and 0 simultaneously.

Another option is to use the mouse: hold down the Ctrl key and scroll the mouse wheel at the same time.

Screen Reader Use

A screen reader is a program that conveys what is displayed on a computer screen as speech or, if an additional device is available, as Braille. It is primarily an assistive tool for people with visual impairments.

The content of the website has been partially created in accordance with screen reader standards, but the following limitations currently exist:

  • Some icons and images lack a text description.
  • Some elements (buttons, links, modal windows) are not correctly marked up for screen readers.
  • Dynamic content updates, such as form error messages and calculator results, are not automatically detectable by screen readers.

Video Content

YouTube videos may be embedded on the website. The content of the videos is primarily visual and textual information is presented directly in the video frames. If a video contains speech or audio information, the automatically generated subtitles may be inaccurate and may not meet accessibility requirements. Videos can be operated with a keyboard by moving between controls using the Tab key and activating buttons using Enter or Space. As an alternative, videos can be viewed directly on the Eesti Raudtee YouTube channel.

Cookie Banner

The cookie banner at the bottom of the page is keyboard navigable. Users can move between elements using Tab and Shift+Tab, and activate elements using Enter or Space.
